What I Noticed Driving Around Cumbre del Sol

One thing that stands out immediately is the sheer scale of Cumbre del Sol. Unlike many urbanisations on the Costa Blanca, it feels more like a collection of separate neighbourhoods spread across the cliffs and hillsides between Benitachell, Javea and Moraira. As the drive progresses, the variety of housing becomes apparent, with everything from older villas dating back to the 1970s and 1980s through to modern apartment complexes and recently completed villas.

The development also appears more self-contained than many surrounding residential areas. During the drive there are clear signs of everyday services including supermarkets, a pharmacy, cafés, bars and the Lady Elizabeth School. This reduces the need for residents to travel elsewhere for basic amenities and gives parts of Cumbre del Sol a more established, year-round residential feel.

Another noticeable feature is the ongoing refurbishment of the former Lirios Shopping Centre. After remaining largely unused for many years, the centre is being brought back into use with 15 new commercial units planned. Combined with the facilities already present within the development, this has the potential to make Cumbre del Sol even more self-sufficient in the years ahead.
