Costa Nova sits on the south-eastern side of Javea, between Cap Martí and Granadella. It’s a residential zone made up almost entirely of detached villas, pine cover and quiet streets that wind gently across the plateau. The elevation gives the area a slightly cooler feel in summer and puts you within a short drive of several coves, including Granadella and Ambolo.
Many long term residents choose Costa Nova because it feels settled and green without being isolated.
First impressions
Costa Nova is spread out, with winding residential streets and good spacing between homes. Tall pines, mature gardens and stone boundary walls give the neighbourhood a calm, established look. It feels more rural than areas closer to the Arenal, even though the coast is only a few minutes away.
Traffic is generally light. Most movement comes from residents heading towards schools, supermarkets or Granadella.
Streets and layout
The area is organised around Carretera de la Guardia, the main access road that runs through Costa Nova. From here, smaller streets like Calle Fernando Poo and the wider Costa Nova Pla pocket branch off into quieter residential loops.
The housing stock ranges from older Mediterranean villas to renovated properties with updated interiors. Plot sizes tend to be generous, and many homes back onto green belts or elevated ground that creates good privacy.
Food, cafés and local spots
Costa Nova has a small but reliable selection of places to eat. They are all on or just off Carretera de la Guardia.
• Everest Spice is well known for Indian and Nepalese dishes. It has a loyal local following and outdoor seating in the warmer months.
• Casa de la Pizza offers pizzas, pasta and casual food. It is popular with families and is within easy reach on foot for many streets in Costa Nova.
Although Costa Nova doesn’t have a supermarket of its own, residents use Mas y Mas or Consum on the Javea side. Both are around a six to eight minute drive depending on where you are in the neighbourhood.
Beaches and access
The wonderful Granadella is the closest cove. Most residents reach it in under ten minutes, depending on summer traffic controls. Cala Ambolo is also nearby, though access from the cliff road is currently restricted for safety reasons.
Walking is possible within Costa Nova for short trips, but most errands require a car. The Arenal is around eight to twelve minutes away.
Everyday living
The elevation brings slightly cooler evenings in summer and more breeze compared with the lower, flatter parts of Javea. Winter is mild and bright. Many homes get good light throughout the day because of the open street layout.
Noise levels remain low throughout the year. Activity picks up slightly in August when nearby Granadella is at its busiest, but Costa Nova’s internal streets stay calm.
