Puerta Fenicia Area Guide

Puerta Fenicia, Javea

Puerta Fenicia is a small residential area on the eastern side of Jávea, positioned just inland from the Arenal and bordering Tosalet and the Granadella road corridor. It sits slightly elevated above the flatter coastal zones, giving parts of the area a more open feel without moving far from the town’s main amenities.

Some locals refer to Puerta Fenicia simply as “Lion”, a nickname that comes from the large lion statue marking the entrance to the urbanisation. Long-term residents still use this as a reference point when giving directions.

First Impressions

Puerta Fenicia feels quiet and contained. Streets are short, residential and used almost exclusively by residents. There is no through traffic and no commercial activity inside the area itself, which keeps movement low and predictable.

The layout is compact rather than sprawling, and most homes are set back from the road behind walls or hedging. Compared with nearby areas closer to the Arenal, Puerta Fenicia feels calmer and more private.

Location and Access

One of Puerta Fenicia’s strengths is how quickly you can reach multiple parts of Jávea:

  • Arenal beach: around 5 minutes by car
  • Tosalet: directly adjacent
  • Granadella road: immediate access
  • Old Town: approximately 8 to 10 minutes
  • Jávea Port: around 12 minutes

Access is straightforward via the Granadella road, which connects directly to both the coast and inland routes.

Street Layout and Housing

Puerta Fenicia is made up almost entirely of detached villas on individual plots. There are no apartment blocks or commercial buildings. Homes vary in age, with a mix of original builds and renovated properties.

Plots are not large by inland standards, but spacing between houses is reasonable, contributing to the quiet atmosphere. The area does not feel dense or overdeveloped.

Day-to-Day Practicalities

Puerta Fenicia is not walkable for daily errands, but everything is close by:

  • Supermarkets: Mas y Mas (Wok roundabout), Consum, Mercadona
  • Schools: Arenal state school within a few minutes; international schools reachable within 12 to 15 minutes
  • Services and dining: concentrated around the Arenal, Tosalet and Cap Martí

Most residents rely on the car, but journey times are short and familiar.

Noise and Atmosphere

Noise levels are low. There are no bars, late-night venues or commercial areas within Puerta Fenicia. Any ambient noise tends to come from nearby roads rather than the streets themselves.

Even during summer, the area remains relatively steady compared with beachfront zones.

Who Puerta Fenicia Suits

Puerta Fenicia tends to suit:

  • Buyers wanting a small, quiet residential area
  • People who want quick access to the Arenal without living inside it
  • Those looking for detached villas rather than apartments
  • Residents prioritising calm streets over walkability

It is less suited to buyers looking for sea views, on-foot living or holiday-style activity.

Puerta Fenicia in Context

Puerta Fenicia sits between some of Jávea’s better-known residential areas without trying to compete with them. It does not have the scale of Tosalet or the profile of the Arenal, but that is part of its appeal.

It works best for people who already understand Jávea’s layout and want a quieter pocket close to the action, rather than a destination area in its own right.
